Michael also serves on the Board of Directors at Spacefy Inc. – a space sharing platform targeted at the creative community – which he co-founded in 2014 as a partner at SB2 Group Inc. (startup incubator based in Toronto, Canada).

Further, Michael also serves as an advisor and seed investor in various FinTech, EdTech, video streaming, social mobile and peer-to-peer startup ventures.

Previously, Michael served as Vice President, International Networks with global OTT network, KyLin Global Network (www.kylin.com) based in Beijing and New York. In this role, Michael oversaw three B2C multicultural businesses, comprising of both IPTV and home phone services, for Latin American, South Asian and Arabic diaspora audiences around the world.

Previously, Michael was the Senior Vice President of Marketing at Internet television industry leader, NeuLion Inc. (www.neulion.com) [TSE:NLN]. NeuLion is a global leader in delivering and monetizing live and on demand video via the Internet through multi-platform services, from mobile and PC to set top box technology. Michael owned the P&L of various global IPTV networks and led some corporate marketing activities for the entire organization supporting B2B sales, B2C partner efforts and investor relations. The portfolio of ethnic TV business units was operationally acquired by KyLinTV in 2012.

Prior to this role, Michael served as the Head of Marketing of JumpTV (which later merged with NeuLion) where he developed and managed a comprehensive portfolio of marketing campaigns and technologies in growing subscription and pay-per-view offerings across 200 international TV channels. Further, he also led the company’s efforts in building the pay-per-view and subscription business around FIFA World Cup properties.

Earlier, Michael was at eBay Canada where he helped launch the eBay site for French Canada along with an eBay community video portal. Michael also operated Cadre Collective, a creative consulting and marketing agency that built web applications and online marketing and communication plans for federal government departments, national non-profit organizations, professional athlete networks, and corporate brands.

Michael studied Pre-Health Science at the University of Waterloo. He speaks English, understandable French and very broken Spanish.

In terms of personal interests and odd factoids, Michael is fascinated by (and sometimes speaks about) the continually evolving impact digital media creation, consumption and interaction has had on both the mainstreams of society and niche communities around the world. He has broken 8 bones in his body (not through heroics but through clumsiness). He has worked in rural communities in the Dominican Republic setting up IT networks and student computer labs. He is addicted to tech business news, especially as it pertains to FinTech, information management, digital philanthropy, micro donating/lending, crowd funding, Internet marketing, OTT/IPTV/digital video distribution and generally anything that makes the world a sunnier, funnier, and “funner” place.

Michael lives in Toronto with his infinitely better half and two sons.
